The famous Floating Torii of Miyajima. The fact that the Torii is floating denotes that
the entire Island is sacred to the Shinto religion, and therefore, no one is allowed to give birth or
die on Miyajima |

The famous Torii again, But Josh's head got in the way :-) |

When the ferry arrived at the station there was this very friendly deer that met us inside the station.
The deer knows where to get food from... |
...and was evidently hungry because it started to eat the items in Michelle's bag. After playing tug
of war with one of Michelle's brochures for a few seconds, a station employee came running at the deer
with a red wooden stick...at which point the deer let go and ran out of the station. |
After getting ice cream we met our deer friend right outside the station again. Seeing as we were tourists
and that we had food, the deer decided to follow us. We found this sign and decided to pose by it with
our new friend. |
The sign really should have read "Don't tease the deer with antlers"...and you can see why.
The deer also decided to steal a brochure out of Josh's backpack...and with no lady with a red stick
to scare the deer away, our futile attempts of playing tug of war with the deer ended up with us being
beaten with antlers, and the deer eating the entire brochure. |
After around 2 miles, a brochure, and some of everyone's ice cream, our friend the deer decided to part
with us. It was a sad goodbye... |
...until we saw a really cute baby deer and forgot all about that large evil one. |
At low tide, it is actually possible to walk all the way out to the Floating Torii |
