Many beginners to koi have a problem distinguishing a difference
between the two tri-colored classifications Tashio Sanke and Showa Sanke. An easy way
to learn the difference is to study the difference between the Bekko and Utsuri. If
you put the Bekko's black accent (sumi) on a Kohaku, you would get
a Tashio Sanke. If you put the Utsuri's black accent (sumi) on a
Kohaku, you would have a Showa Sanke. If you were breeding
Tashio Sanke, you could expect some fry to be Bekko. And in a Showa Sanke breeding you
could expect some fry to be Utsuri.
