According to Andrew Hamer,
in his Historical Account of the HAMER Surname, an early record of the HAMER surname
connects with the manor of Hamer and the village on the manor, which was located
outside of Rochdale, Lancashire, UK. As years went on, Rochdale expanded to
include the area of Hamer. The author of the Rochdale website, Lea
Dunning, graciously
provided us with a couple of pictures of the area, which appear below.
This is Halifax Road, or A58 , as it goes through the Hamer section of Rochdale.
